Commonly used cables are known as Cat5 or Cat6. Cat means Category. This is a standardized twisted pair cable used for networking in Ethernet. Cat6 is better in quality than Cat5. The performance of Cat6 is 250MHz where Cat5 is 100MHz. Cat6 cable can be used for 55M where as Cat6A cable can be used for 110M with 500MHz with 10GBASE-T.
Cat is a unshielded twisted pair cable (UTP). Cat5 was formalized in 2001 and Cat6 was in 2002.
T568 is the standard for Crimping (wiring) in networking. Commonly using T568B and is shown below
