National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, an autonomous body under
the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, invites applications through the website link
https://www.niot.res.in/recruitment_details.php for engagement as Apprentice under
Apprentices Act 1961.
After successful completion of one year training, the apprentices are issued a
Certificates of Proficiency (COP) by NIOT, which is considered as one year experience when
they go for further employment.
During the tenure of apprenticeship Rs.9000/- per month for Degree holders and
Rs.8000/- per month for Diploma holders shall be paid as Stipend.
The technical areas for which apprentice are invited are Degree/Diploma in Mechanical,
Degree/Diploma in Electrical and Electronics and Degree/ Diploma in Electronics and
Instrumentation, Degree/ Diploma in Electronics and Communication.
Candidates who are holding B.Sc/B.Com/BBA/BCA are also encouraged to apply. The
Non-engineering degree holders shall be paid Rs.9000/- as stipend.

The application may be superscribed as “Application for Apprenticeship”.
In case of large no. of applications received, NIOT reserves the right to restrict the
number based on the marks obtained in the Degree /Diploma. The decision of the Director,
NIOT regarding the mode of the selection is final.
